Hinirang – Philippine Youth Ambassadors of Goodwill·Saturday, July 28, 2018
Anchored in unity, 29 servant leaders coming from the different regions of the country make the Hinirang — the official contingent of the Republic of the Philippines in the 45th Ship for Southeast Asian and Japanese Youth Program (SSEAYP).
Hinirang means “chosen one” in Filipino. Inspired by the values of heroism, these leaders conferred as Philippine Youth Ambassadors of Goodwill, aspire to encourage finding the hero within one’s self. They firmly believe that an individual, regardless of how big or small his noble actions may be, can be considered a hero. The Contingent also believes in today’s youth as the chosen generation to bring about great leaps in transformational growth for the country through championing representation in the global community.
Hinirang appreciates and understands the diverse culture and personality of each other but despite these differences they remain to be God-centered and culture-sensitive — united by a shared commitment to bringing sustainable, inclusive, and peaceful growth to the youth of ASEAN and Japan.
The delegates, in their collective efforts, are in a stride to inspire the youth to intensify their love for the country by fostering and the centuries-old Filipino culture of “bayanihan” or unity— telling of a social capital and close-knit community ready to build with one another for the common good.
It is the aim of the delegation to build and sustain stalwart friendships and lasting partnerships between and among the youth of co-ASEAN member-states and Japan.
